If I had the chance to talk to Eric (the main character) I would tell him to get his life on track. Who goes after your worst enemies girl? That's breaking some kind of guy code, right? It doesn't even sound like he likes Jody, it just sounds like he what's to get back at Mark Brittain. His mother even agrees with me.
Carver disagrees though, he thinks that Eric should just go for and learn from his mistakes. Carver also says that it's okay if he get's hurt, that it's just part of life. To me that's just like wasting his feelings and saying that his feelings don't matter.
Eric's feelings do matter though. With people telling him that they don't he might start to think that they don't matter. I would also tell Eric to not care what other people think. eric was worried about his body shape. If he is happy then that's all that matters
